The building of the Trade Bank was to be part of a modern quadrant between Sokolska St. and the Superunit. Unfortunately the katowice business center was never completed.

The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, at 209 Havemeyer Street near Broadway, was incorporated April 19, 1864 and the bank opened for business on June 1 of that year, located in the basement of the First National Bank building. In 1908, The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh took possession of the now historic building, located near the base of the Williamsburg bridge, which serves as its headquarters.

Grand Bank, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada or 'Grand Banc' as the first French settlers pronounced it, is a small rural town with a population of 2,580. It is located on the southern tip or "toe" of the Burin Peninsula (also known as "the boot"), 360 km from the province's capital of St. John's. Grand Banc was inhabited by French fisherman as early as 1640 and started as a fishing settlement with about seven families. It was given the name "Grand Banc" because of the high bank that extends from Admiral's Cove to the water's edge on the west side of the harbour. The Town of Grand Bank can attribute much of its past and present growth and prosperity to its proximity to the fishing grounds and its ice-free harbour. Original settlers thrived on trade with the French and a vigorous inshore fishing industry. Grand Bank became the nucleus of the bank fishing industry for Newfoundland and a service center for Fortune Bay. With the decline of the salt fish industry, the town's emphasis quickly shifted to fresh fish production. Enterprising businessmen and town planners prepared the way for a fresh fish plant (present day Grand Bank Seafoods Inc.) and a fleet of trawlers.

The building is occupied by design company Creed Design Associates, who describe the renovated and refurbished old bank building as 'a spacious studio' in the heart of the village. The company produces interior and exterior design services for both small independent retailers and large multinational brands. Wellington Financial Management Limited occupied the ground floor and say most of their computer equipment is gone - although they are able to continue in business due to help from dedicated staff and business partners. All data is safe as it is held on remote servers
The fire began when the building was struck by lightning during a particularly heavy storm around tea-time today (Tuesday 28th).
Police and several fire engines were in attendance and the area around the scene was cordoned off. It eventually took seven fire crews about ninety minutes to bring the blaze under control.
Up to 25 people had to be evacuated from their neighbouring homes because of fears that the three-storey building might collapse.
Crowds of villagers gathered at the junction of Cross Street and High Street as well as Brook Street and High Street trying to get a closer look at the scene.
Residents living nearby told local media they heard an explosion as the lightning struck during a storm at about 5.30pm yesterday, which sounded "like a bomb going off".
They looked out to find that the roof of the Old Bank building (one of the tallest buildings in the centre of Enderby) had been hit by the bolt, sending the roof and top floor up in flames.
Local resident Paul Fitzpatrick, 49, of nearby Blaby Road, told the Leicester Mercury:
"There were two lightning strikes within about five minutes - the second one sounded like a bomb and all of our windows were shaking.
"Three women and a bloke were working up there - they had to run out while the roof was caving in."
Because of the danger from falling masonry and glass as well as possible 'whiplash' from telephone wires that had to be severed, the police and fire crew spent time urging those observing to stay well back.
Flames were first observed on the apex of the building and seemed to quickly spread along the rest of the roof. There was also the danger that, if not brought under control, the blaze could spread to adjacent dwellings.
(Above) Earlier, fire crew at street level played a hose through a top floor window of the building to try and stem the progress of the blaze which can be seen moving toward the edge of the roof.
Firemen were hampered by the lack of water from the normal sources. The weather had also interrupted electricity supplies and the water pumping station at Enderby failed, leaving much of the village without water for a period.
For a short while several fire crew could be seen up and down the surrounding streets in an attempt to locate a stable water source. Eventually a number of local residents with wells at the rear of their properties were able to let the fire service use portable pumping equipment.
Viewed from nearby Brook Street, a table-ladder deployed to fight the fire from above can clearly be seen above the rooftops.
Cross Street remained closed on Wednesday morning, as fire crews were busy damping down at the scene.

The Bank of Dyersburg is a historic building built in 1885. Located at 100 N. Main St. in Dyersburg, Tennessee and facing towards the County Courthouse in the middle of the town square, it has also been known as Citizens Bank Building. It has served historically in commerce/trade functions, including as a professional building, as a specialty store, and as a financial institution. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 for its architecture.
The Bank of Dyersburg received a charter and began in business in 1880. Its 1885 new building has been described as showing "a stylish mix of Second Empire and Italianate architecture."

"Fortnum & Mason, often shortened to just "Fortnum's" is a famous department store and Royal Warrant holder, situated in central London. Its headquarters are located at 181 Piccadilly where it was established in 1707 by William Fortnum and Hugh Mason. It is privately owned by Wittington Investments Ltd.
Fortnum and Mason is recognised internationally for its high quality goods and as an iconic British symbol. It is renowned for its "quintessential English charm" and is one of the most famous stores in the world, has held many Royal Warrants for over 150 years and is the shop most closely associated with the British Royal Family.
Its fame rests almost entirely on its magnificent food hall, (though only two of its several floors are devoted to food), stocking an extraordinary variety of exotic, speciality and also 'basic' provisions. It is also the location of a celebrated tea shop and has Britain's only hair salon dedicated to long hair.
In 1761, William Fortnum's grandson Charles went into the service of Queen Charlotte and the Royal Court affiliation led to an increase in business. The store began to stock speciality items, namely ready-to-eat luxury meals such as fresh poultry or game served in aspic jelly.
During the Napoleonic Wars, the emporium supplied dried fruit, spices and other preserves to the British officers and during the Victorian era it was frequently called upon to provide food for prestigious Court functions. Queen Victoria even sent shipments of Fortnum and Mason's concentrated beef tea to Florence Nightingale's hospitals during the Crimean War.
In 1851 Fortnum & Mason first created the Scotch egg and in 1886, after having bought the entire stock of five cases of a new product made by a Mr H.J. Heinz, became the first store in the world to stock tins of baked beans.
Fortnum & Mason is famed for its loose-leaf tea and its world-renowned luxury picnic hampers, which the store first distributed to Victorian High Society for events such as the Henley Regatta and Ascot Races. These hampers — which contain luxury items such as Stilton cheese, champagne, Quails eggs and smoked salmon — remain popular with England's upper classes today, especially at Christmas time and can cost (as at 2008) anything from £35 up to £25,000. [4] Its Christmas orders are also renowned for being delivered by horse and carriage, complete with a liveried driver dressed in Victorian clothes.
They also have an account card, but it is only supplied to 'favoured customers' and reputedly cannot be obtained via application. Previously, account customers used to just give their names to the frock-coat wearing staff and signed for their goods, with the monthly bill being sent on afterwards. Some of its most famous, regular and current (non-Royal) customers and account card holders include Terence Stamp, Jane Asher, Marc Sinden, Elizabeth Hurley and Adam Faith.
The store was acquired by Canadian billionaire W. Garfield Weston, who became its Chairman. In 1964, he commissioned a four-ton clock to be installed above the main entrance of the store as a tribute to its founders. Every hour, four-foot high models of William Fortnum and Hugh Mason emerge and bow to each other, with chimes and 18th century-style music playing in the background. Since Garfield Weston's death in 1978, the store has been run by his granddaughters, Jana Khayat and Kate Weston Hobhouse and the Managing Director is Beverley Aspinall.
The store underwent a controversial £24 million refurbishment in 2007, celebrating 300 years of existence.
Mixed opinions of the refurbishment exist. Some arguing that it has lifted Fortnum's into the right century at last. However it can be argued that it has lost a lot of its character and charm. Fortnum's has not managed to escape the effects of the so called "credit crunch" and it is expected that over 10% of the store's loyal work force will be made redundant in 2009."

To those of us of a certain age what we now call Burnley Central Station will always be Bank Top. In this part of town there are a number of place names with the word Bank in the title - Bank House, Bank Hall, as well as Bank Top. As you will know, there is also a street name, Bank Parade. All of the "Banks" refer to a landscape feature of the immediate area - the slope or embankment which can be identified on the northern bank of the Brun as it flows from below Heasandford, through Bank Hall park (where the great coal mine was situated), through Thompson's Park to St Peter's and on to the river's confluence with the Calder.
A desperate university student on her way to an exam risked her own life and sparked chaos on a railway line when her train set off without her and she sprinted a mile down the track to catch it
The 34-year old Lancashire woman decided to get off and buy a ticket at a railway station kiosk after her bank card was declined by a conductor's chip and pin machine.
But as she was about to get back on the train it pulled out of Burnley Central in Lancashire - and she realised she had left her dissertation and other revision papers on board.

As the train set off, the unnamed woman panicked, leapt off the platform and ran onto the line after the train in the hope of catching up with it at the next stop Burnley Barracks.
But her amazing chase along the track and across the 15-arch 1848 Burnley viaduct caused chaos on the line forcing another train coming the other way to grind a halt.
Ralway staff eventually stopped her and called police. She was later quizzed on suspicion of trespassing on a railway line and issued with a £50 fixed penalty notice.

ALONG THE BANKS OF THE DODDER (Between Clonskeagh and Milltown)

Clonskeagh or Clonskea (Irish: Cluain Sceach, meaning "meadow of the whitethorn"), is a southern suburb of Dublin, Ireland. The district straddles the River Dodder.
Whilst located fully within the county of Dublin, Clonskeagh lies partially within the administrative area of Dublin City Council but mostly in that of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown. Roebuck Road defines the southernmost end of Clonskeagh; this area is sometimes known as Roebuck and occasionally considered to be part of Windy Arbour. However, most residents of Roebuck consider themselves to live in Clonskeagh.
Clonskeagh is primarily a residential area, developed in the early decades of the 20th Century. It has a small village green with a few local shops, but without a main centre. The area is principally defined by the Clonskeagh Road and its extension into Roebuck Road, which spans its length. The northern end of the Clonskeagh Road at the junction with Eglinton Road / Milltown Road separates it from Ranelagh to the north; the campus of University College Dublin at Belfield is to the east; Goatstown and Dundrum to the south. To the west is Windy Arbour, but there is no clear point at which the border might be defined.
There is a mid 20th century Catholic church on Bird Avenue, and the Islamic Cultural Centre and primary school is on Roebuck Road. The former fever hospital at Clonskeagh Hospital is now a long-term care facility for the elderly.
The population of Clonskeagh is a mixture of long-established families and older people, university students, and some Muslim immigrants, mainly from the Persian Gulf States. Other Muslim children attending the Islamic School arrive by bus from further afield.

St. Kilian's Deutsche Schule and the Lycée Française d'Irlande share a Eurocampus at the end of Roebuck Road, offering private, fee-paying preschool (approximately 3.500 Euros per annum) primary and secondary school in a multicultural and multilingual environment unique to Ireland.
The first ever All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final was held in Elm Park, Clonskeagh, one of the features of the area, on April 29th 1888 on the ground of St. Benburb's Football Club.
Clonskeagh is also home to a range of businesses, including offices of eircom and Vodafone and the headquarters of companies such as Philips, Ericsson and Unisys in Ireland. It also has a number of pubs and shops.

Hill climbing is serious business...

Vicki means business- This hill will not defeat her! halfway up a long hill on ncn72 (MapMyRide says a "Cat 3") on her Scott 40 Sportster hybrid with 700x35c Schwable's. Panniers are huge 42L Basils, and can be used as a small house if necessary. Worked well on the Coast to Coast route we picked, although we took far too much food. Good times!
