Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Dawn Harper signed photographs, spoke with guests, and signed up volunteers for United Way’s Education Express program at the eighth annual St. Louis Business Journal Women’s Conference on Friday, January 11, 2013. Education Express is an initiative started by United Way that encourages volunteers to become mentors, tutors, homework helpers, and readers to children ranging from ages 3-21.

As part of a new tradition, we are inviting people who we have worked with to sign the wall of our office, much the way that performers sign the walls backstage at performance halls or radio stations. This is a nice way for us to see all the people who we have helped over the years at Kresge Library. This tradition was started on March 18, 2010.

This program teaches fundamental communication skills, business plan development, and prepares its participants for jobs in the technology sector. The program has been a rousing success with plans to expand throughout California and into other states in 2013.

Beverly is the VP of Operations for KickLabs, recognized by Forbes as one of the top 10 technology accelerators in the US. Beverly is committed to an active lifestyle and has a background as a dancer and certified fitness instructor.
