The Magazine Gateway, Leicester

Good work here by the council and De Montfort University. The building of a new Business and Law faculty has led to the Magazine Gateway (listed Grade I ) standing in it's own new square, no longer stranded on a traffic island or surrounded by unpleasant subways. When it is finished you will be able to walk close to the Gateway to the pedestrian crossing and onto Newarke Street.
The area is bounded by the Newarke Houses museum (just out of shot on the left) and (behind the photographer) the Hawthorn Building. It makes for a fine new public space.
