83. Open for Business: Frisbee's market

Established in 1828, this old-fashioned grocery -- with wood floors, tin ceilings, and signs from the 1940s advertising smoked knuckles for 37 cents a pound -- is run by the sixth generation of the Frisbee family, whose Kittery roots date to the late 1700s.
The store has evolved with time, changing from a warehouse-style business in the early 1800s to a full-service grocery store. In the 1950s, Frank Frisbee II, a fifth-generation owner, wanted to give the store a more modern look, so he sold many of its older fixtures and furnishings.
