The former Tottenham Town Hall

12 February 2011. Sold to Newlon Housing Trust who are restoring the beautiful Moselle room which will be available for public use. Newlon are also converting the remainder into small Business Units. And building 109 new homes behind the former Town Hall.

Read more on Newlon's website.
One deeply worrying aspect is the mention of:
"wider plans to regenerate Tottenham Green and to create a
new cultural quarter, being developed in partnership with the
[Bernie Grant Arts Centre], Marcus Garvey Library, the College
of North East London (CONEL) and Haringey Council."

Naturally, as a local Tottenham councillor, this "cultural quarter" plan is not something I knew about or was consulted on. Well, perhaps they guessed what I'd say about bringing this daft idea back from the undead?

The Risk of Becoming an Expert

www.intersectionconsulting.comThe danger of becoming an expert doesn’t lie in the label or how freely others bestow it upon you. “Expert” becomes a risk to your small business when you buy into the hype that you’ve reached the pinnacle of knowledge and it’s okay to stop thinking, learning and embracing new ideas. Note: Inspired by David Armano.

Albergian origami candy wrapper
small business ideas

The Piedmont chooses origami!! Albergian, producer of local food, well renowned for the use of alpine herbs, used origami to package their candy. I bought this little box in a cafeteria a few days ago. Unfortunately, it has been realized in plastic material but it is still very interesting: you can open and close it without effort, thanks to the markings. It is a candy that contains candy: certainly the idea is not innovative ... However, it soon makes clear the opening mechanism ... rotate, as to open a regualr candy paper packaging. Many origamists have used similar mechanisms to design vases and containers of various kinds ... in addition to the known models of Fuse and Fushimoto, I really love those by Oschene. In this box is not used any particular mechanism for the closure ... the closure is made from the adhesive label itself.
Albergian is the name of a 3041 mt. mountain in Piedmont, at the foot of Albergian, 100 years ago, was opened the hotel Albergian, one of the first to accommodate the rising, mountain sports, tourism. Albergian hotel customers could count on a large selection of jams, teas, liquors ... all these were produced by their chefs using local raw materials and especially the famous alpine herbs and in particular the mugwort (Artemisia). In short time, the products, by virtue of their goodness, became famous and production was insufficient to satisfy the many requests, so it was that the hotel owner's family decided to start a small business, the same that still sells the same products and the digestive candy I love. Many fantastic stories circulate around Mount Albergian, the best in my opinion is this: at the foot of Mount Albergian there is a cave, inside the cave is hidden fabulous treasures. Guarding the cave there are huge and fierce dragons but during theholy night they lose all their powers and because they change their skin ... the brave should try this night to seek the treasure. I wish you this week to fight the dragon and win!
