The family that computes together, stays together

This is my new work area. This is where the magic happens. :-) At 10.5 feet long, it's nearly 28 square feet of total desk surface.
It is a thing of beauty.
I put this setup together with the idea that the whole family could share it. I spend so much time at home now, it's a great way for me to get work done and help the girl with her homework at the same time. The kids use the machine at the far end, a Shuttle SFF with AMD guts running Ubuntu Linux 5.10 (Breezy). The lovely and talented wife uses this spot as home base for her Windows laptop. And of course I've got my little slice of office heaven here at this end dual booting Ubuntu Linux 6.10 (Edgy, pictured) and (infrequently) Windows XP.

Burlington, Vermont USA • A mirror soaked by last night's rain, mounted on the base to reflect the mosaic peace sign on the belly. ∞ A fun project has MOOved onto the Church Street Marketplace. More than 30 fiberglass cows are grazing on Church Street. It's part of a summer-long festival called The Cows Come Home to Burlington. Local artists painted the bovines.
The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event. "They represent kind of a piece of what Burlington is in the art community and it's a great way to get people into downtown that may not have normally gone to see it, especially families," explained Matt McMahon, of the Chamber. The chamber used the event as a fundraiser. They sold sponsorships for ,500 a piece and businesses get their names on the sides of the cows. – By Melinda Davenport from the WCAX TV News website.
